Can you make covert recordings at work?

Most reps I know groan when they’re asked this, as such recordings can breach employers’ policies, breach GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations) which means you should get permission in writing for every conversation you record. Many employers would dismiss people for covert recording on grounds it also breaches trust. However, one tribunal allowed a covert recording as permissible evidence. One day I hope someone will record a perpetrator, as high up as possible, behaving abusively, it’s allowed as evidence, it’s put the public domain and the abuser is sacked as a result. Don’t do it unless you can afford to lose your job! If ALL managers assumed they are being recorded, the bar on workplace behaviour could be raised. For full advice:
