Women may not face legal exclusion from governing in this country, but a misogynistic culture at Number 10 stopped the small number there from being heard. Had women of the caliber of Helen MacNamara (Deputy Cabinet Secretary in the Cabinet Office from 2020 to 2021) been in government or just listened to, thousands of lives could have been saved. Instead, you had a government of public school boys whose entitled arrogance was only matched by their ignorance of the real world in which their subjects – no, I mean constituents lived.

Our Political Parties need to widen the gene pool from whom they choose their ministers and everyone needs learn to mistrust charisma and choose serious leaders instead.
