Most people still think adult bullying starts with the abusive behaviour. It doesn’t. It starts with grooming, boundary testing – as bullies don’t want to pick on an assertive person by accident and get called out. They really are cowards – every bully I’ve either stood up to myself or who I’ve coached a member to stand up to has always backed down.
After 28 years working for the BBC and 14 years representing union members with their workplace issues, I discovered that the earliest warning signs that someone is looking for someone to bully are almost always boundary testing. That is why I created this online workshop: to stop bullying before it starts. Join me to learn how to recognise the signs that you are about to be bullied and how to respond effectively to STOP the bullying at that testing stage.
I’ve been bullied. I’ve challenged bullies. I’ve represented people who have been destroyed by bullying both professionally and personally. Everything I teach has been tested in real workplaces
I’ll give you a quick example: I happened to be walking with a notorious misogynist and bully to a BBC tea bar. He turned to me and said, “You know I’m a bully, don’t you?” “Yeah, I know,” I said truthfully in a bored tone. I turned into the tea bar, and he’d vanished. Obviously, as I’d not shown fear, his purpose in accompanying me no longer existed. Grooming can be that quick: #NoFearNoLeverage.
Join me to learn about the grooming methods and how to politely sabotage the planned bullying they’re testing you for
This isn’t theory; it is the lived experiences of those I have represented
